Archeology

Learning Tennessee History by Digging up the Past: Excavation and Analysis is a unique Graduate (CUAI 5957) or Undergraduate (CUAI 4957) three-hour course offered by the College of Education at East Tennessee State University to be held at the Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site in Johnson City. The overall goal of this course is to give teachers the opportunity to experience archaeology first-hand. Based on the artifacts found, educators will learned about our local Tennessee history and apply this learning in their educational setting. The course will be offered from June 2 through July 3.

Directed by Daniel Brock, Site Archaeologist and Penny McLaughlin, Ed.D., the course is limited to 12 participants. While the focus of the course is for educators, other interested students will be accepted.
