Sorghum Making Festival

September 17, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

This is a unique event that allows visitors to view the old-fashioned way of making sorghum. Sorghum is a plant that was once plentifully grown in the area to make molasses. It is must see to watch the mules power the old mill press as the green juice from the sorghum cane is squeezed out before being boiled. Visitors can also taste food cooked over an open hearth in the historic cabin. Regular admission will be charged while members are free.
