The Tipton-Haynes Historical Association, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that manages the daily administration and maintenance of the Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site. Under the Tennessee Historical Commission, the Association’s mission is to “preserve, protect, and perpetuate the historic grounds, buildings, and artifacts of the Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site and to provide educational experiences and research opportunities to the public based on the comprehensive history of the site.” With the public trust of the community, the Association adheres to the role as preservers and interpreters of the historic site’s heritage with accuracy, honesty, and sensitivity. A value and commitment of the Association is to preserve the authenticity of the site’s historical objects, documents, and structures. A hallmark of the Association’s efforts is the importance in recognizing partnership and collaboration within the organization and with our audience and partners. Support given to the Association is greatly appreciated and allows the site to strive to efficiently and effectively use our resources.
The Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site is owned by the State of Tennessee and is administered by the Tennessee Historical Commission, the state agency responsible for recording, preserving, and interpreting the history of Tennessee. The Commission administers all programs established under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and oversees the operation of all state-owned historic sites.
